In the historic centre of Aosta, taking on an interior redesign rarely means starting from scratch: you are necessarily furnishing a space that was there before. Ceiling heights, the sequence of rooms, the way light enters and moves through the day are givens, not variables. The full renovation of the apartment began here, with a careful reading of what the building allowed and what it asked to be left alone.

The direction we agreed with the client was twofold: the clarity of modern lines as the structure, art deco references as the voice. It is a balance that breaks easily. Too much deco and the home becomes a quotation; too much modern and the decorative accents look dropped in at random. We worked to keep either register from overpowering the other.

The solution was to give each room a single point of intensity and keep everything else restrained. One piece that draws the eye, essential surfaces and volumes around it. Repeated room by room, this rule made the apartment coherent without making it repetitive: each space has its own character, but the logic holding them together is the same.
